Verse of the Week: Acts 2:1-13 (CSB)
Coming of the Holy Spirit
2 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
The Crowd’s Response
5 And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven. 6 And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were confused, because everyone heard them speak in his own language. 7 Then they were all amazed and marveled, saying to one another, “Look, are not all these who speak Galileans? 8 And how is it that we hear, each in our own language in which we were born? 9 Parthians and Medes and Elamites, those dwelling in Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya adjoining Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, 11 Cretans and Arabs—we hear them speaking in our own tongues the wonderful works of God.” 12 So they were all amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, “Whatever could this mean?”
13 Others mocking said, “They are full of new wine.”

EVERY 3RD THURSDAY MONTHLY
A ministry of the Salem Baptist Association has invited UHBC to participate in this great ministry on the 3rd Thursday of each month. We would need 4-5 volunteers 9:00 am-Noon to receive and organize donated items. Please see Sandra Councill for more information.
If you would like to receive our weekly “The Week @ UHBC” email newsletter, you will find a sign-up sheet on the table in the foyer. THANK YOU!
GOING ON NOW- EVERY MONTH
We praise the Lord for additional people He is sending our way and for the need to expand and upgrade our facilities. During 2019, we are looking forward to putting out monthly extra financial blessings toward this expansion. Let us believe and be part of God’s awesome provision. To God be the glory! Please give if you can!
THROUGHOUT THE YEAR
Specific items to bring are over for the year at this point.
We will continue to have our packing party toward the end of the year. In the meantime, we are collecting packed shoeboxes throughout the year. Anytime you can, we encourage you to bring a packed shoebox.
*Start with an average-size cardboard or plastic shoebox. If you want to wrap it, cover the box and lid separately.
*Decide whether you will pack a box for a girl or a boy, and the age category: 2–4, 5–9, or 10–14.
*Select a medium to large “wow” item such as a soccer ball with pump or stuffed animal, then fill with other fun toys, hygiene items, and school supplies.
*Most importantly, pray for the child who will receive your gift. You can also include a personal note and photo.
